NOTICE TO WALKERS: Amazing Vistas Walk unavailable

Due to the damages resulting from last month’s weather conditions, we are forced to change our Half Day Walk: Amazing Vistas (Thursday & Sunday). This walk will not be available before February 2014.

Until then, we are offering a new Half Day Walk in Prazeres: Serene Settings!

Enchanting all year round, this tranquil Leveda walk will expose its hidden beauty to the unsuspecting walker. Forest, valleys, panoramic views of the south-west coast and terraced fields are the many contrasts that the old Madeira reveals on this gentle Levada that is lined with a vast array of flora.

NOTICE TO WALKERS: PR9 Caldeirão Verde closed

As a safety measure, the official PR9 Recommended Walking Route (Levada do Caldeirão Verde) will be closed until further notice, the SRA – Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Natural Resources has informed.

As this is one of our most popular walks – Enchanting Santana which we offer on Thursdays -, Nature Meetings will operate an alternative walk until this trail is reopened.

Madeira Mountain Tour

Visit the highest and the easternmost points in Madeira!

As an alternative to the temporarily closed Peaks Walk, we are now offering the new Madeira Mountain Tour.

Madeira Mountain Tour is a Full Day Saturday tour that will take you to the highest and the easternmost points in Madeira.

On this tour you’ll have a chance to walk from Achada do Teixeira to Pico Ruivo (yes, the highest of the Peaks!) and back, and then hike the beautiful Ponta de São Lourenço, Madeira’s easternmost region with its (simultaneous!) views of the north and south coasts of the island, the Desertas Islands and, on clear days, of Porto Santo as well.

The total walking time is about 4h30 with a short drive between the two walks. As usual we’ll pick you up and return you to your hotel when we finish.

NOTICE TO WALKERS: The Peaks Walk

As a safety measure, The Peaks walk (Pico do Arieiro to Pico Ruivo) is closed as of Saturday 12 October 2013 due to a rockfall on the path.

Madeira Walks: The Peaks (Pico do Arieiro to Pico Ruivo)

Pico Ruivo, Madeira’s highest peak at 1861m (and one of the 1,515 ultra prominent peaks in the world, is still accessible from Achada do Teixeia (PR 1.2) or Encumeada (PR 1.3) for a more challenging walk!

We will adjust our offer on Saturdy to include a visit to Pico Ruivo and publish a new Saturday offer shortly.

NOTICE TO WALKERS: Madeira Wine Rally 2013

All Nature Meetings levada walks will take place normally during the 2013 Madeira Rally (August 2 to 4).

The only exception is The Peaks walk (Pilgrim’s Path), on Saturday the 3rd of August, which will be walked “the-other-way-around”, from Achada do Texeira (Pico Ruivo) to Pico Arieiro.

If you’re an independent walker or if you choose to follow the rally, please keep your safety and that of others in mind at all times. Always cooperate with the rally Safety Marshals, the police, and with any member of the organization. For further info, check the RVM website and get to know their spectator safety instructions.

Notice to Walkers 2013-02-07 : PR1 Vereda do Areeiro (Pico do Areeiro-Pico Ruivo) temporarily closed

The recommended route (PR1) between Pico do Areeiro and Pico Ruivo is temporarily closed due a small rock fall which has damaged the safety wire, reducing the safety of this path.
