Funchal, in Madeira Island is the best location to greet the new year with fireworks, according to the “Where to find the best of everything, worldwide” in CBS News by travel editor Peter Greenberg.

The new Lufthansa general manager for Portugal has just announced the german airliner will begin flying to Madeira this winter.
Two routes are planned: Berlin-Madeira flights will begin September, while Düsseldorf-Madeira flights will start November. Both connections will be weekly.
